Frequently Asked Questions
Before Your Appointment
I am recently engaged but haven’t set a date, or chosen my venue yet, can I make an appointment?
The time of year and type of venue will heavily influence the type of dress that you eventually choose. Therefore we like to have all brides to have a confirmed date and venue booked before booking an appointment.
When should I start looking for my wedding dress?
Wedding dresses can take up to 6 months to arrive from the date of order and time also needs to be allowed for any alterations. Therefore we recommend that you start looking around 12 months before the date of your wedding.
Do I need to book an appointment?
Yes we operate on an appointment only basis. However, if you are in the area, please give us a call as we may have last minute availability.
Do you charge for appointments?
No we don’t charge for appointments with the exception of Sundays. We do require 48 hours notice to cancel an appointment.
We do not charge for week day, styling or retrial appointments
Do you offer evening and Sunday appointments?
Yes, as we are by appointment only, we can accommodate evening appointments Monday to Friday, the latest appointment time being 7.00pm. We do not charge for these appointments. We also offer appointments on Sunday’s for 2 hours but there is a charge of £75, which will be refunded against any purchase over £1000.
How many people can I bring with me?
We do understand that getting married is a very exciting time and it’s tempting to invite lots of people to help choose your dress. Remember that this is your moment, and too many opinions aren’t necessarily helpful and lead to confusion. Therefore we ask that you ideally only bring 2 guests, whose opinion you value. If you wish to bring more please note that we are a true boutique and therefore very intimate and can only accommodate a maximum of 3 guests.
Can I bring a baby/children?
We simply adore children and babies, but this is your special moment, when all eyes and attention should be on you; so we kindly ask that you leave them with a trusted friend or relative.
However, we do recognise that in an emergency you may have no choice but to bring a child with you, so please note that due to our size we can only take a maximum of 3 guests, this includes any children.
Additionally due to space, pushchairs cannot be brought into the store so will need to be left outside or in the car.
What should I wear for my appointment?
We recommend that you wear nude or very light underwear, which you will be comfortable being seen in. No VPL knickers are great and if you need a little support don’t be afraid to think Bridget Jones. A good fitting bra is a must and preferably strapless, even if you don’t plan on wearing a strapless dress.
We don’t provide any shoes; so if you plan on wearing heels bring some along with you that will be of a similar height.
What should I do about my makeup and hair?
As you will step into most dresses it’s fine to wear light makeup, all we ask is that you don’t wear bright lipstick such as Reds / Wine / Pinks as these really do stain.
If you have long hair, bring a bobble or clip so we can pop your hair up. This lets you see what the neckline looks like with your hair up and down.
I usually wear Fake Tan, is this okay?
Fake Tan causes permanent staining on the delicate fabric of wedding dresses. Please avoid having a fake tan applied in the few days before your appointment. This includes using moisturiser with tanning agents.
How much do your dresses cost?
Our dresses range in price from £1000 through to £5600, we also stock a small line of separates that retail between £500 and £1000. This cost does not include any alterations, which are extra.
We strongly believe in being open and transparent about our prices and will ask about your budget at the start of the appointment.
What size are your samples?
The majority of our samples are size 10, 12 and 14.
Can I choose which dresses to try on?
Yes, however, all we ask is that you keep an open mind. We are experts in helping brides find their dream dress and we will select other styles and designs for you to try on that you may have previously dismissed.
What size dress do I need?
This is the part that most girls hate, but please don’t get hung up on the size of the dress, as wedding dress patterns are still cut using pre-war measurements. We will take full measurements and then discuss this with you. Remember it is easier to take a dress in where it is too big than it is to let a dress out.
How do I pay for my dress?
A 50% deposit is required at the time of ordering, when it arrives in store we will invite you in to try it on, the balance is then due within 14 days of the dress arriving in store.
We can offer a payment plan scheme, where you can spread the cost over 4 payments, please note your gown will not be ordered until 50% has been paid. Please ask for more details at your appointment, if this would be of interest to you.
Do you offer Finance?
We don’t offer any finance options. However, we can offer a payment plan to help spread the cost of payments. Please ask about this at your appointment.
I have changed my mind and want to cancel / change my order, what can I do?
All sales are final. Once you have ordered and paid your 50% deposit we instruct the designers to put your dress into production. The balance will then be due within 14 days of the dress arriving in store.
Do you offer in house alterations?
We work with an independent seamstress who you can make an appointment with at the boutique. All fittings take place at the boutique
My dress has arrived but my wedding is still months away, can you store it?
Yes we can store your dress for 4 months free of charge, we then charge a small storage fee of £10 a month.
